New Flooring!

Hi all,
Well today is the day they started putting in the new flooring. We are having ceramic tile put in the kitchen, hardwood floors in the FR, LR and hallway, carpeting in all the bedrooms and then new vinyl in the bathrooms. Poor Maggie doesn't know what is going on. She preferred to hang out in the back bedroom so I leashed her up there. Hopefully it will all look nice. We had a heck of a time trying to decide on everything.

We have two birthdays to celebrate, Maeve and Noreen's so we will have everyone over on Sept. 13 for dinner. Maeve will bring her new beau James and his 17 month old son Liam.

Nothing much else is new with us. Getting new flooring is enough for us right now. I plan on running in a 10-miler on Sunday Sept. 7. I just realized book club is the night before so it will be a packed weekend.

Cheers, Clyde

S Yeah! A Yeah!

Hi all,
Well S (Andy's Dad) did have to enter the hospital last Monday for GI problems but all is well now. He had all kinds of tests to figure out what was wrong. They never did figure out what went wrong and said sometime these things just happen. He went home Friday. He is feeling fine but because he was bedridden for so long now he has weakness and pain in his legs from lack of use. He has to relearn how to walk again.

A had a great triathlon on Saturday. It was the Tri for Fun at Rancho Seco Park. He got 5th place in his age group! He came in 33 place out of 300 plus participants. Because they gave out awards 5 deep he received a plaque and had a formal podium finish picture. We will have to frame that.

Nothing else really new. I went for a 6 mile run yesterday and held a 10:30 pace. I ran 4 miles this morning and held a 10:27 pace. I am sore but that is to be expected since I have not been running.

We just got our next book club assignment. We are to read Pretty Birds by Scott Simon. It was my first pick so I am happy with it.

Have a good day,
Clyde

August Already!

Hi all,
Summer is winding down...it is now August. My training program for the Cowtown Half Marathon and maybe, California International Marathon starts on Monday! Ouch! I haven't done anything in 2 weeks so it will be painful. I got an e-mail message about a Buffalo Stampede 10-miler that is in September so Andy and I may do that one also. Andy does a sprint triathlon tommorrow in Rancho Seco Park. It will be his first triathlon of the season.

My latest interest/addiction is HGTV. It stands for Home and Garden TV but it is 99% about home stuff. My favorite shows on this channel is Home Hunters and Whats My Home Worth? On our Comcast Cable it is channel 914. It is so interesting to see different types of homes in different ares of the country and to see what the prices are. It is also interesting to see how the deigners/planners fix up the homes. Also interesting is seeing what people have done with parts of their homes and for what amount of money. Anyway I can turn this station on and watch anything that is showing which is totally unusual for me.

The latest good book I am reading is All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. Practically everyone I know has read this book except for me. It is about a veterinarian in the Yorkshire area in the time period of 1937 and on. It is a funny book and full of heartwarming stories about all types of animals. There was a series on PBS many years ago about this book and was available to me through NetFlix so I got series 2 DVD. Series1 had a long waiting list. So far I have watched one episode (there are 3 episodes on this disc) and I found it pretty good but the book is better. The book captures the humor better but I like that it is a period piece.

We haven't gone up to Tahoe all summer long. Maybe we will go for a weekend in September.

Nothing else really new. Hope your summer is going well.
